Not only did the 1-October shooting shake Las Vegas to the core on a personal level, it also threatened the city’s reputation as a carefree destination for millions of tourists. However, things were happening behind the scenes in the hours following that horrible tragedy, to make sure the world knew we were “Vegas Strong.”
As the nightmare was unfolding at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a group of people assembled to decide how to reassure the world that Las Vegas was safe.
“Most of the LVCVA executive team and my executive team gathered,” said Billy Vassiliadis, CEO of R&R Partners, the agency that created the ‘What happens here, stays here’ ad campaign. “I’ll bet there was 20 people in there. Social media folks were here right away.”
